Meet LaRonn Simmons — DJ Tycoon
I'm LaRonn Simmons, professionally known as DJ Tycoon—a St. Louis-based wedding and event DJ, MC, and entertainment curator.
I'm also Co-owner and Director of Sales at Affluent Taste Entertainment, a St. Louis entertainment company providing DJ, photo, lighting, and event experiences.
My journey behind the decks began in 2020 when an unexpected opportunity to step into a nightclub DJ booth showed me what I loved most about this work: using music to change the energy of a room and bring people together.
Why Weddings Became My Focus
A wedding requires much more than knowing which songs to play.
It requires understanding people.
I want to know what you grew up listening to, which songs take you back to a specific moment, what gets your friends onto the dance floor, what your parents love, which traditions matter to your families, and what you want the room to feel like.
Then I turn those details into a musical experience designed specifically around your celebration.
My Approach
Every DJ Tycoon wedding is built around five things:
Personalization. Your music should reflect you rather than a standard wedding playlist.
Preparation. Planning tools and meetings help us organize important songs, timelines, formalities, and preferences before the wedding.
Flow. Music, announcements and transitions should feel natural rather than forced.
Reading the room. A great dance floor can't be programmed completely in advance. I respond to the energy of your guests while remaining true to your musical vision.
Professionalism. I work collaboratively with planners, venues, photographers, videographers, musicians and other creative partners so the entertainment supports the entire event.
Experience Beyond Weddings
My work has also included events and collaborations involving organizations and venues such as the St. Louis Battlehawks, St. Louis CITY SC, Nike, Four Seasons Hotel, Ramsay's Kitchen, 21c Museum Hotel, and Angad Arts Hotel.
Those experiences strengthened my ability to perform in environments where timing, production quality, audience awareness, and professionalism.
